    Subject:Just starting
I have just started drinking vintage port. Can you recommend some recent vintages that are not as pricey to start my collection. I am ready to let bottles sit for years are there any finds out there? Where should I begin?Posted on Mar 8, 2005

Hi Shawn, were are you in Texas? I am in the houston area and can recommend some places here. What types of port do you prefer? Vintages, Colheitas, Simple Rubies & Tawnies, Tawnies with indication of Age, Vintage Character, Crusted, White, Garrafeirra? The best vintages for laying away are the 2000's and 1994's, the 1995's have a good Price to Quality Ratio, as do some of the 1997's. If you want even better deals, buying futures on the 2003's and 2004's may be the way to go when they come out...Posted on Mar 10, 2005

The 2003s are now being offered as futures. Other over looked and affordable vintages are 1980, 1987, 1991 and definitely take Kevin's advice on the '95s!Posted on May 6, 2005
