I first became a Port Lover in 1996, when I waited 4 hours in the early morning for the liquor store to open so that I could buy some of the 1994 vintage that was just about to be released that day. Later, my love for the wine and the region would grow even more with my trip to the Douro wine region in 2000.
The idea for PortLover.com was born during the winter of 2000/2001 while I was tasting a lot of great Port Wines and there wasn't anywhere that I could share my tasting notes with other enthusiasts.
So on January 2001, PortLover.com was launched to provide lovers of Port Wine a place to gather and share their experiences.
The web site was designed to be interactive and member driven. Registered members can change the content without any administrator's help. This allows our members to add, edit, delete any element of the portlover database including wines, houses, tasting notes, wine prices, events, books, and links.
PortLover.com doesn't sell anything nor endorses any stores. Our only source of revenue is the GoogleAds that help pay for the web hosting.
