    Notes:Had another Taylor's 1985 a couple of days ago.

This bottle was on sale at K&L Wines.

Lots of alcohol, but only in the smell - not in taste. Nice jammy blackberry taste with a low amount of tannins. Good pepper, but not as much as others.

Interesting dark burgendy colour instead of what you would expect in a lighter red 1985. Overall, this tasted like a Mouvedre that was fortified instead of a classy Taylor from a fanstastic year.

Maybe, there was a reason that it was on sale; those cases were not stored properly. Or maybe the 1985s are now starting to show their age.

Notes:I had this wine on Xmas day 2001.This is the first out of the case which I have tried. I agree overall with the conclusions of Roy and Fred, although am sure it will improve given another four or five years. Its just too young at the moment.

Notes:I have had several bottles of this wine. I agree, but thinks disjointed is a good description. Prefer the 1985 Grahams.

Notes:At first when we openned it, it was clearly unbalanced with loads of alcohol which masked the tannins and its sweetness.

On the second day, it lost a little of its alcohol which allowed the tannins to come through. The sweetness didn't come through all that much though.

Overall it was an enjoyable wine from a great year from a great house and that is why I gave it an 8. Although, I was slightly disappointed because I expected a more balanced wine from Taylor Fladgate.
